Aroma Restorative Yoga

​Let go of the stresses of week just passed and get ready for a beautifully peaceful yet energised weekend.

I am always asked to describe what happens during restorative yoga. While can of course find words to describe what happens to myself when I practice this type of yoga, I believe that deep down we all have a unique experience, because we are all unique, with our own stresses and worries and stories, and magically, by putting our body on a mat, fully supported by props, encouraged by healing essential oils and guided by our own heart, we all can find deep healing in this practice.
And so I want to say please come and give the practice a try, at least once, as the experience is worth a thousand words.

"Restorative yoga doesn't burn hundreds of calories. It won't tone your abs. ... it doesn't resemble the high-intensity 'yoga workout' that you might think is the only way to relieve your stress. 
Restorative yoga is an internal practice. It benefits the mind and emotions just as much as the outer body, if not more.

"Ideally, in the physical practice of yoga, our bodies develop a balance of strength and flexibility. Yet our minds crave similar equilibrium. Restorative yoga emphasises mental and emotional strength and flexibility, and gives our minds this balance. Trough a restorative practice, we become strong enough to experience and tolerate a full range of feelings and then, with flexibility, return to a place of calm.

"Although it does so much for us, restorative yoga can appear from the outside as though nothing much were happening. ... it can look passive , and even unexciting. This is not to say that restorative yoga is easy - far from it. The hardest part is to be still. ... When the body slows down, the mind can accelerate ... Yet if [we] can tolerate this initial discomfort, [we] create space for calm and for the emergence of friendship between the mind and the body"
