Welcome to Millennium Yoga @ Greenwich Millennium Village
After months of planning, decorating, shopping and anticipating, now, that the studio is about to open its doors to the first students, I am looking forward to meeting you all, spending time together on our yoga mats, being stretched, challenged and soothed, expanded, opened and softened by the practice, and finding support, friendship and a sense of local yoga community in each other.

... the story...
Back in September 2014, as I was sitting in a blissful meditation not a meter from the waves crashing into a beach in Side in Turkey, where I was teaching yoga for a week, with the sun just beginning to appear over the mountains to the east, I had a vision – to recreate what I was experiencing in Turkey back at home in Greenwich. Now I know I cannot bring the ocean with me, or the atmosphere of being on holiday, but I can create a little sanctuary of peace in the middle of the bustle and hassle that London can feel like to some of us; an oasis of calm, an escape from the busy, ever-present city, a space where you can come to ‘just be’.
Now this dream has become true, the room slowly taking shape, getting itself ready and into the right mood for being filled with all things yoga, saturated with incense and essential oil scent, for mantras being chanted and muscles being stretched …. but mostly for frazzled up yogis and yoginis coming through the door, to leave a short time later feeling unwound, somewhat softer and more open to all good things that wait for them back in their lives.
I was honoured to welcome my friend and teacher, Jo Ozden, creator of the Yoga Holidays Turkey, to have lead a yang-yin class, the first ever class to be taught in this new space, to infuse it with her bright sparkling energy, her love and enthusiasm for everything that yoga is, and with the essence of her own lovely yoga space back in Side.
In Jo’s own words “We moved, smiled, had fun, explored and learnt about our fascinating anatomy giving us a greater appreciation for our wonderful bodies that will wake up your desires and dreams and peel away anything that stops us moving forward to live a wonderful fulfilled happy life to my soulful playlist.”
We collected donations for MIND, and dedicated the event to Jo’s dear friend Martha, and all the people we know with mental health problems or issues. We were proud to bring awareness to, and to support, such a great cause, because we all might have in our life someone who feels 'blue' but we might not even know it. Depression is unlike a cold - you can hide it too well - but it will grow in its hiding place and become bigger, and even harder to talk about... So how about bringing some awareness in, and do it on your yoga mat! It's a double good feeling!
Now the studio is about to open its doors to new students and I am looking forward to meeting you all, spending time together on our yoga mats, being challenged, soothed, expanded and softened by the practice, and supported by each other.
